The 2017 Sauvignon Blanc is unoaked and comes in at 12.5% alcohol. Tasted with only about 30 days in bottle, this was a bit unevolved, but it still showed enough to be interesting. Winemaker Miguel Martin said that "2017 was a good but not a generous year. We had very low yields all across the varieties. I like to bottle the SB with a bit of residual CO2. It helps to accentuate the acidity." After a little spritz, which blew off pretty quickly, this was simply delicious. It's not a particularly funky Sauvignon Blanc, leaning more to tangerine and grapefruit for spice and aromatics. It has reasonable concentration and a fresh, lively feel. The juicy finish lets the fruit linger and makes this perky white very tasty as it dances across the palate. Even if you normally think Sauvignon Blanc is too vegetal, this has considerable restraint in that regard. This is a perfect summer wine, and by the time summer gets here, this may be in even better form. Drink it young and fresh to avoid losing what it does best.
